Innovators by Kurt Bestor and Sam Cardon

At the end of the last century and half a year after the release of WordPerfect 6.0 for Windows by WordPerfect Corporation, I discovered the masterwork from Sam Cardon and Kurt Bestor called INNOVATORS and produced by Brian Bosil.

This CD was never released in Spain but I discovered it by casuality in a library getting dust and without open. A friend of me thought about it that this was a PC CD-ROM, reason for what an Apple Macintosh man will never open it. I took the CD of the bookcase and I went to my house.

The first impression was incredible. It's impossible for a musician to descript the music with words, sorry. The second impression was to think in how it would be possible this work will never see the light as a comercial CD in Spain.

I was talking with the people of WordPerfect in Spain about the idea to promote WordPerfect through the radio stations using this CD as a promotional gift. After a long hours and days talking with them, finally I got 10 CD's for promotion.

Ramón Trecet (from spanish radiostation Radio 3) and Jorge Flo (from spanish radiostation Sinfo Radio and M80), among others, were selected for me to be the lucky men who will hear this hidden jewel. Faster than he was expecting, they contact him to know more about the history behind this CD.

As a result of this contacts, Ramón Trecet suggest me the idea to promote and sell the CD for an humanitary cause: Doctors Without Borders (MSF in Spain). That was what Ramon Trecet and I did it in 1995. The result was 1000 CD's sold out in ten minutes (a $6000 - $6 per CD). Later, out of stock.

It cost a lot for me that the people from WordPerfect, which was adquired by Novell Corporation in this moment, and the people from Doctors Without Borders reach an agreement for this cause. But finally was possible.

From this moment on, I has a special sympathy for MSF. Afortunately, I don't need the music to survive, because I am teaching in the University, so why not collaborate with my music for MSF?
